Students must meet admissions criteria at Fayetteville State University to be eligible for Academic Fresh Start. Students previously suspended from the university who a) have not been enrolled for at least four semesters OR who have earned an Associate’s Degree subsequent to their suspension from FSU and b) whose records show potential for degree completion may be readmitted under the Academic Fresh Start Program. For students readmitted under this program, the following provisions will apply:
- All course work completed at FSU prior to the semester of re-admission will be excluded from the GPA calculation.
- All previous courses in which the student earned a final grade of C or higher will be used to fulfill degree requirements.
- Students will be required to repeat any required courses in which they previously earned a final grade of D.
- All course work will remain on the transcript with the following notation: "Academic Fresh Start."
- If a student earns credits at another institution during the period of non-enrollment at FSU, the student may be awarded transfer credits based on evaluation of appropriate department chair.
- Academic Fresh Start does not eliminate attempted hours from a student’s record, and, hence, hours covered by Academic Fresh Start will be used in determining possible tuition surcharges and financial aid eligibility.
- A student will be granted Academic Fresh Start only one time.
- Students readmitted under the Academic Fresh Start program will be required to enroll in the Student Success Program to help them achieve success while re-enrolled.
- Students suspended more than two times from the university can only return under Academic Fresh Start.
